Effective January 1: Masks are Optional in VisArts’ Classrooms and Studios
In this imaginative class, young artists will dive into the world of comics and storytelling through illustration. Students will learn the fundamentals of character design by breaking down the face and body into simple, expressive shapes. They’ll explore how to exaggerate proportions to create dynamic characters and how to use rhythm, line, and value to bring those characters—and their stories—to life.
Through guided exercises and creative comic script writing, students will develop their own characters, craft engaging scenes, and build short comic strips. Along the way, they’ll gain skills in visual storytelling, sequencing, and expressive drawing techniques using a variety of tools and materials.
This class encourages creativity, collaboration, and fun, making it perfect for kids who love to draw, invent stories, and share their ideas through art!
Children under 13 must be dropped off and picked up at their classroom by a parent or caregiver.
Please use the Notes section during registration to list any accommodations your child may need during the class.
Classes require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
