Hand-built and Painted Ceramic Tile Design

This course provides an introduction to hand-built ceramic tile design, theory and practice by working with  low-fire glaze maiolica glaze painting, on both flat and sculptural relief tile motifs of students own design. Working in both terra-cotta clay and commercial six-inch square bisque tiles, students will begin this process of pattern design and painting with color.

Prerequisite

• Open to beginners and experienced ceramists alike.

Materials 

• Purchase clay in advance. 
• Students are assigned a shelf and locker for the duration of the class.
