During this virtual workshop, Rosa Chang will present her Indigo Shade Map project and her work at Hidden Harvest in Baltimore. In addition to learning about Rosa’s work and artistic practice, Rosa will educate participants on the process of harvesting Indigo dye, and how to grow Indigo in your own home over the winter. Participants will be sent seeds that have been harvested from the Hidden Harvest dye garden. This program is for adults, teens, young adults, and anyone who is interested in growing natural dyes. This lecture & Indigo growing demo costs $5 to attend.
This lecture is a kick-off event to a series of workshops that will take place every month on the last Sunday of each month, throughout 2021. These workshops will educate participants on the following: dying fabric with indigo, dying fabric with kitchen scraps, resist dying in your kitchen, growing plants for natural dying, mending with hand sewing and more.
