Effective January 1: Masks are Optional in VisArts’ Classrooms and Studios
Fused Glass Open Studio is an opportunity for emerging and experienced artists to work independently, deepen their skills, and explore personal creativity in kilnformed glass. This self-directed studio time is ideal for those who are familiar with basic fused glass techniques and hand tools. To participate, students must have completed at least one Fused Glass class at VisArts.
Open Studio is non-instructional—those needing assistance will be charged for private instruction, which is available by appointment ($50 for the first 30 minutes; $80 per hour thereafter—please contact VisArts to inquire about availability).
Studio rental is $15 per hour with a 2-hour minimum and includes access to basic hand tools, grinders, a strip cutter, glass cleaner, and a dedicated workspace.
Students are responsible for bringing all of their own materials, including COE 90 glass.
Additional fees apply for kiln firings ($20 per firing on a 20″x20″ shelf) and mold rentals ($2.50–$5.00 per use). Space is limited and reservations are required in advance.
Open Studio offers a supportive, well-equipped environment for confident glass artists to experiment, produce, and refine their work at their own pace.
