Learn the fundamentals of watercolor painting, perfect for beginners who are just getting started! In this five-week class, you will learn through play and experimenting, creating works of art as you explore and practice:
- The various brushes, papers, and paints.
- Various painting and wash techniques.
- Basics of color theory in watercolor.
- Color mixing and blending.
- Adding texture to your painting.
Materials Needed:
- Drawing pencils.
- Pencil sharpeners.
- Erasers – rubber and/or plastic.
- Watercolor paints, preferably a pan set with colors:
- Ultramarine Blue.
- Pthalo Blue or Prussian Blue.
- Cadmium Red or Vermillion or Scarlet Lake.
- Permanent Rose or Alizarin Crimson or Quinacridone Rose.
Cadmium Yellow.

Burnt Umber and/or Burnt Sienna.

Lemon Yellow or Cadmium Yellow Light.
- Watercolor brushes.
- Variety of shapes and sizes, preferably round and flat.
- Watercolor paper.
- 9″x12″ – 140lb or heavier, cold press.
- Water cups for paint.
- Paper towels.
Instruction will be provided through the Zoom platform. Students will need to have a webcam and the ability to download zoom on their computer, phone, or tablet. Once you register for the class, you will be sent an e-mail with the Zoom URL to log in to the class.
