This 8-week class offers opportunities for students ages 13-18 to acquire and develop skills in drawing and painting. Starting with drawing, students will develop their artistic potential through observation, while exploring techniques and materials. Technical aspects of drawing such as line, light and volume, and perspective will be introduced through class instruction and demonstrations. At their own pace, students will move to painting, becoming comfortable with the fundamentals of mixing color, layering, and brush-handling. As they progress, the option for creating independent, expressive paintings will be presented. Recommended for all levels of experience.
The progression of this class allows for students to work on drawing basics for as long as necessary and the course can be repeated so that students can continue the progression from drawing to painting.
Materials may be purchased from VisArts online and they will be available at the first class. Materials may also be brought at an arts supply store, if desired.
