Learn the “Old Masters” technique of painting that became popular among Renaissance/Baroque period artists and still is used by contemporary artists today. This technique is beautifully suited to the use of acrylics. Paint from your own photographs for subject matter. Learn to paint in layers using a triad color palette while using monochromatic underpainting, staining and glazing techniques. The basics of color theory and the different types of acrylic paints will be discussed. VisArts will provide two stretched canvases but additional supplies will need to be purchased.
If desired, materials may be purchased from VisArts and will be on hand at the first class. Or materials may be purchased at any good art supply store.
