Create a playful abstract piece with tumbling water color forms. Once the surface is dry,
watercolor elements will be embellished with surface design using black & white pens.
This technique offers endless possibilities for journaling, or on a larger scale, making pieces to frame and enjoy!
Materials Needed:
Watercolors paints – (pan or tubes -both are fine)
Watercolor paper – Cold press 140 lb recommended (9×12 recommended) 2 or 3 sheets.
(Cold press is a bit more textured; Hot press is smooth. Either will be fine; use what you have.)
Watercolor brushes –2 Round, 4 Round, 6 Round
Waterproof Black drawing pens – (Staedtler or Micron are good) Black color 0.5 size. (You can add 0.3 and 0.7 if you have them!)
White acrylic pen – 0.7mm POSCA (or white acrylic tube paint and a tiny brush)
Scratch paper or sketchbook – for design experiments
2 clean clear glass jars for water (empty condiment jars don’t tip over easily and have lids)
Paper towels
