Effective January 1: Masks are Optional in VisArts’ Classrooms and Studios
This talk explores the rich world of mythology and folklore, history, and tradition—all told through the surface decorations of ancient pottery. These vessels reveal the values, beliefs, and daily lives of the people who made them.
You’ll see stories from mythology, images of battle and celebration, mourning and healing, nature, and marine life. From Ancient Greece and Egypt to Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, these artifacts offer a window into the past—and the many ways people have used art to make meaning of their world.
Come uncover the narratives etched into clay—each piece holding more than meets the eye.
This Center for Craft Studies program is made possible in part by a generous grant from the Windgate Foundation.
