SUMMARY:Colored Pencils Drawing: Unusual Birds
DESCRIPTION:The drawing of the American Woodcock shown here was created by a student in our prior series this past spring. To have some background before starting work\, layering techniques will be demonstrated and students will practice color blending and line work. We will look at the work of artist Katherine Tyrell\, who has mastered this medium and has written books and organized international groups of artists who gather to work “en plein air.” (Please plan on arriving 5 minutes early; directions and parking info is on the website when you click on the menu bar.). \nPast students are welcome!  \nClass #1: Subject is endangered Piping Plover \nClass #2: Subject is the Falcon   \nClass #3:  Subject is the White Dove (native to the U.K.)  \nIn all of the classes\, we will be using toned charcoal paper (also called “pastel paper”). The sketch outlines of the basic anatomy shapes will be done with white pastel pencil\, which can be rubbed off easily later. We will check in with everyone in the group halfway through with room for questions and comments. Drawing feathers is a lot easier when one starts with a middle tone\, which makes the white highlights stand out. \nThis class is for ages 14 and up. \nPlease use the Notes section on the registration form to list any accommodations you will need during the class. \nClasses require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment\, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
