Effective January 1: Masks are Optional in VisArts’ Classrooms and Studios
In this adult six-week workshop students will explore fundamental applications of collage techniques and history. Other techniques introduced will be printmaking and India ink applications. Students will come away from the class with a variety of different projects ranging in textures and styles.
Week One: Create a basic collage with magazine clippings inspired by Dadaism, learning the history and some of the notable Dada collage artists.
Week Two: Focusing on the material, Tracing Paper, create an assemblage with the help of fabrics, influenced by contemporary artists such as Robert Rauschenberg
Week Three: Inspired by the artist, Andy Warhol, using moldable foam stamps to create patterns on paper and by doing so, creating either a piece of art or wrapping paper for a present
Week Four: Introducing linoleum block printmaking and creating either a figurative or design of your choice.
Week Five: Continuing with printmaking, this time creating prints with two different ink colors exploring the reductive printmaking technique.
Week Six: Introducing India Ink to create a space scene and also a abstract landscape scene.
This class is for ages 14 and up.Â
