We will aim for a vintage look. Students will practice the shape of the blooms on sketch paper with a pencil and then re-draw on watercolor paper ( 11″ x 17″ paper folded in half horizontally). They will be guided step by step to add color gradually, doing some blending on the paper as well as mixing on a palette. We will also look at some color closeup photos to gain a better understanding of the plant.
They will be sent via email several lettering samples as well as Art Nouveau style borders to add to the exterior or interior of the card, to choose from, and draw by hand, after class at home. Ink pens should be waterproof and fine point.
Recommended Materials:
– Brown ink pen by the brand Micron, Thickness 05
– Watercolors: Either a pan set or the primary colors on hand for mixing
– A small pointed “round” brush or two, size 6 or smaller
– Water cup and a plastic small palette or some jars for mixing
All virtual classes are based on Zoom. Students will need to have a webcam and the ability to download Zoom on their computer, phone, or tablet. Access to the Zoom classroom will be e-mailed the day before the class starts.
Please use the Notes section on the registration form to list any accommodations you will need during the class.
