Birds of Maryland – Ages 13-17

Loading Events

Maryland has 436 documented species, according to the Audubon Society. We will be focusing on one species per week. Here is the lineup: Pileated Woodpecker, Baltimore Oriole (shown is art by Audubon, from Pinterest), Solitary Sandpiper, Loon, Carolina Wren, and Gray Catbird. Students will choose at least one to create a piece with watercolor pencils. We will focus on the anatomy and colors of the bird itself, working from photos, up close and personal, and enlarging to 11” x 14” size, without drawing backgrounds.

VisArts provides all materials needed. Once you have registered, please use this link HERE to schedule an appointment to pick up your materials.
All virtual classes are based in Zoom. Students will need to have a webcam and the ability to download Zoom on their computer, phone, or tablet. Access to the Zoom classroom will be e-mailed the day before the class starts.
