Beginning Wheel Throwing/Hand Building

Loading Events

In this class we will learn the basics steps of wheel throwing including how to make bowls, cups, vases, etc. If you have a personal goal in mind, we will work together in achieving that. We will also be leaning handbuilding techniques; slab, coil, and pinch pot techniques as well as exploring texture and surface finishes. You may chose to only wheel throw or handbuild, but are welcome and encouraged to try both. Handbuilt elements are a beautiful addition to wheel throw pieces.

Class includes Open Studio time.

Each student receives a credit for 2,000 cubic inches of glaze firings per 8-week session (pro-rated for shorter sessions). This credit CANNOT be carried forward from semester into another semester. We will continue to not charge for bisque firings.

Optional Tool set includes sponge, wooden rib, metal scraper, 2 trimming tools, needle tool, wooden knife, and cutting wire.
