This workshop will address the question posed by the intellectual critic Susan Sontag in her book On Photography:  “To photograph is to confer importance. There is probably no subject that cannot be beautified; moreover there is no way to suppress the tendency inherent in all photographs to accord value to their subject… ”

In this workshop the role of beauty in the American photographic tradition will be examined, critiqued and discussed. Absolutely no prior experience is required, just a willingness to engage. A suggested short read will enhance the experience.
