Altered Books

Instructor:

Marcie Wolf-Hubbard

Turn old books into unique works of art! In this creative mixed media class, students will learn how to upcycle and repurpose books using a variety of artistic techniques. Through drawing, painting, collage, gelatin plate printing, photo transfers, and text redaction, participants will transform the pages of books into rich visual narratives and expressive art pieces.

Bring a book you’d like to reinvent; board books, hardcovers, paperbacks, dictionaries, and textbooks all work beautifully. With inspiration from sample projects and guided instruction, you’ll build your own altered book that tells a story entirely your own. Perfect for artists of all levels looking to explore new techniques in a meaningful and imaginative way.

This class is for ages 14 and up.

This Center for Craft Studies program is made possible in part by a generous grant from the Windgate Foundation.

Please use the Notes section on the registration form to list needed accommodations.

Classes require a minimum enrollment of four students. If classes must be cancelled due to low enrollment, students will be informed one week prior to the start of the class and issued a full refund.
