In this class, students will:

•Learn about the paints, brushes, different painting surfaces, and acrylic mediums

•Develop an underpainting made entirely of neutral grays in order to create a full range of value

•Choose Photo and paint impressionist/realistic painting from the beginning

•Mix colors and apply color theory to paintings

•Mix mediums to alter the behavior of acrylic paint

•Apply translucent glazes of color to develop the colors within a scene

•Paint with various painting knives to create “impasto” effects

•Create Abstract and Non-Objective paintings

 

Basic Acrylic Painting supplies
Pencil, eraser
Basic Acrylic Paints (black, white, red, crimson, yellow, blue, yellow ocher, brown)
Basic Brushes (rounds & flat: 1.3.7)
Palette Knife  (Small one for Knife Painting session)
4 Canvas papers or canvas 9×12 or 11×14
Modeling paste (2 oz)
Extra acrylic painting supplies (recommended but not required)
Gesso
Easel
Apron
Palette knife
Scraping tools, sponge, toothpick, etc
Masking tape
Pencil/charcoal
Acrylic mediums

Instruction will be provided through the Zoom platform. Students will need to have a webcam and the ability to download zoom on their computer, phone or tablet. Once you register for the class, you will be sent an e-mail with the Zoom URL before the class to use to log in to the class. Please provide a correct and viable e-mail address when registering as this is how you receive your link.
