Art is a powerful tool for telling all kinds of stories, even scientific stories. With many scientific fields dealing with hard-to-imagine parts of the natural world, art can shed light on scientific discovery. By weaving science facts with imagination and storytelling, art helps highlight the amazing wonders of our world.

Join artist Shelley Lowenstein on a sci/art exploration into the amazing human body to discover the remarkable behavior of the magnificent beta cell– regarded by many scientists as the hardest working cell in the body, Learn about this little-known but very important life-giving cell.

Shelley takes you on an imaginative journey deep inside our bodies, using the most up-to-date scientific facts, to illustrate how this fascinating cell works and then she will teach students how to use alcohol inks to make their own  science art.
