VisArts’ Center for Craft Studies Presents

EMPTY BOWLS: SOCIAL JUSTICE THROUGH CRAFT

Join us for an Empty Bowls gathering!
Tuesday, November 14 |  5-8 PM | Buchanan Room

Tickets*: $25 in Advance | $30 at the Door

Did you know that more Montgomery County residents are facing food insecurity than at the height of the pandemic? According to a recent article in Bethesda Magazine, many residents are facing a “food cliff” due to higher food, housing, and childcare costs, along with a reduction in federal SNAP benefits.

To help our neighbors in need, VisArts’ Center for Craft Studies presents Empty Bowls, an international grassroots effort by artists, arts organizations, and their supporters to fight hunger in our community.

VisArts ceramics students and faculty create the hand-built or wheel-thrown bowls with clay, glazes, and firing donated by VisArts.

Event proceeds will support Stepping Stones Shelter, a Rockville nonprofit organization that provides emergency food and shelter to Montgomery County families experiencing homelessness.

*Tickets include a ceramic bowl, appetizers, and drinks. Catering donated by Catering by Seasons.
